Russia will spend the next edition of the UEFA Nations League in section C after the were relegated from section B. The Russians have been relegated from section B to section C without kicking a ball as punishment for the forceful invasion of neighbours Ukraine by president Vladimir Putin and his men.


The Russians were initially drawn in the second group, section B of the current UEFA Nations League campaign. Apart from Russia, Israel, Iceland and Albania are also in the group known as B2.

In the absence of Russia, Israel are the top team in the group after recording five points from their first three games, while Iceland and Albania are second and third respectively with three points and one point respectively. Only Israel have picked maximum points in the group.

For the first round in Group B2, Shon Weissman scored six minutes from the end of the game to rescue a 2-2 draw with Iceland. In the second round, Iceland made it two draws from two games after they played a 1-1 draw with Albania. Israel picked up the only win in the group till date in the third round thanks to the 2-1 away win over Albania. The Isreali team came from behind to beat their hosts with two second half goals from Shakthar Donetsk star Manor Solomon who has been seriously linked with a move to the Premier League. Newly promoted team Fulham are said to be keen on signing the attacker.

For the fourth round, DorPeretz scored the equaliser for visitors Israel as they played out a 2-2 draw with Iceland. With the result, the two teams maintained their unbeaten run in the group. In the fifth round, Albania would be the guests of Israel before they play hosts to Iceland in the sixth round.
