Russian ace AleksandrGolovin has been linked with a transfer move to English side West Ham United according to reports. Golovin is regarded as the golden boy of Russian football and became a huge star during the 2018 World Cup.
It is understood that the player could entertain a move away from French side AS Monaco after struggling last season. Golovin was well sought after last season with Chelsea said to be the favourites for his signature.
However, the midfielder chose to move to France to continue his development at the Principality outfit. However, it has been far from rosy for the midfielder who was dropped to the bench at some point last season.
This season he has fared better playing some matches under Leonardo Jardim, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to strengthen the middle of the pack and Golovin is seen as the perfect player for this role.
The Uruguay tactician has been frustrated with his team’s inability to create chances from the midfield. This was on display during their last game at home to Crystal Palace when they looked tepid and lacked ideas in the final third.
The current midfield options include an injury-prone Jack Wilshere and an out of sorts Manuel Lanzini. Golovin is expected to bring pace and creativity to the midfield and is thought to have the ability to rediscover his best.
This move could be a good one for the Russian who can follow the footsteps of YouriTielesmanns in moving to the EPL. Tielesmanns struggled at Monaco but has been reborn since making the move to Leicester.
It would be interesting to see whether the move would materialize as West Ham would have to stump a large fee for the midfielder. West Ham have started well this season with the club currently in the top eight places.
