According to several reports Arsenal are interested in the services of Zenit St Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun. Italian tabloid Area Napoli claims that the Gunners have contacted cult hero Andrey Arshavin over a move to sign Azmoun. And the former Arsenal striker has urged his former side to raid the Russia giant.
The young striker is regarded as one of the best forwards in the Russian League and has attracted the interest of several clubs including Italian side Napoli. However, the report claims that Arsenal have the edge as Arshavin oversees transfers and they are hoping that his connection to the club could provide a better negotiation ground for the forward.
Arsenal are expected to strengthen in the summer with the club set to provide funds for Arteta to bring in relevant signings. It is believed that the Gunners are consulting with their scouting team to ascertain whether Azmoun would suit the Premier League. The reports submitted have been positive and the club will make an approach at the end of the season.
Azmoun is also attracting interest from Italian side Atalanta. The Serie A side are ready to go to war with Arsenal in the race to sign the player.
With the uncertainty regarding the future of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it is no surprise that the club are preparing for life outside the duo. Lacazette is attracting attention from Atletico Madrid while club captain Aubameyang has refused to sign a new deal with the capital club. The club is looking for a solution should they lose either of their stars.
They could face domestic competition for his signature as West Ham and Leicester are keeping tabs on the striker. The coming weeks would determine whether a transfer bid would be made for the striker.
